iHeartIMPACT in partnership with Kidde’s Cause For Alarm™ program presented a $20,000 donation to the FDNY Foundation to support its efforts to expand access to life-saving fire safety education and detection resources across New York City communities on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in New York, NY. A central theme of the forum was whole home safety, a comprehensive approach to helping protect families from multiple household threats, including fire and CO poisoning among others. Featured speakers, including FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore, emphasized that early detection, education and preparedness remain among the most effective tools for preventing tragedies before they occur.
“The first step in fire safety education is prevention. Every day, our first responders see the devastating consequences of fire and CO emergencies. Many of these emergencies can be prevented with early detection,” said Lillian Bonsignore, FDNY Commissioner. “Having working alarms in every home is not just a recommendation; it is a critical lifeline. We are incredibly grateful for programs like Kidde’s Cause For Alarm that equip New Yorkers with the tools and knowledge they need to help protect themselves and their loved ones.”
In addition to fire service leaders and safety advocates, attendees also heard from country music singer-songwriter and content creator Noah Schnacky. He shared his family’s personal connection to first responders and fire safety, delivering a special performance honoring the service and sacrifice of the fire service community.
“I am incredibly proud to join the Cause For Alarm Home Safety Forum to support a mission I truly believe in: helping families stay safe,” said Noah Schnacky. “Our rescue workers put their lives on the line every day, which reminds us that true safety begins with prevention. By encouraging families to take simple steps to ensure their smoke and CO alarms are working, we can help prevent emergencies before they start.”
Since launching in 2022, Kidde’s Cause For Alarm program has evolved from a public awareness campaign into a community impact platform focused on turning education into action. Through alarm donations, safety education and partnerships with trusted organizations, the program helps make fire and CO safety more accessible for families across North America.
Building on that mission, this year’s collaboration with iHeartMedia and The Home Depot brought fire and CO safety education into communities with local events at select The Home Depot stores, promotional support from iHeartMedia and Kidde product donations to local fire departments to help provide alarms to families in need.
“At Kidde, we believe every family deserves access to the tools, education and protection needed to help keep their loved ones safe,” said Isis Wu, President of Global Residential Fire & Safety at Kidde. “By bringing together community leaders, first responders and industry partners, we’re helping turn awareness into action. Through education, partnerships and increased access to smoke and CO alarms, we can help close critical safety gaps and help make every home a safer home.”
Despite progress, significant safety gaps remain. According to UL Standards & Engagement research, 36% of U.S. adults report having no means of detecting CO in their homes, and according to the American Red Cross, only 26% of American families have developed and practiced a home fire escape plan. To help address those gaps, Kidde has donated more than $9 million worth of smoke and CO alarms to communities across North America over the past four years. As part of the event, Kidde announced a donation of more than $300,000 worth of smoke and CO alarms to the FDNY. The donation will help expand access to critical detection devices and life-saving fire safety education throughout New York City communities. Additionally, iHeartIMPACT, a community impact division of iHeartMedia designed to help corporate brands partner with nonprofits through their advertising spend, donated $20,000 to support the FDNY Foundation’s educational efforts.
Fire safety experts at the forum encouraged families to have working smoke and CO alarms, test their alarms regularly, replace alarms that have reached the end of their service life, and practice a home fire escape plan with all household members.
